Police Say Navy Deserter Arrested After Armed Robbery

A man from New York City wanted by the military for desertion was arrested in North Carolina this week, accused of robbing an automotive supply store at gunpoint.

Twenty-one-year-old Lorenzo Lewis James was being held on
$50,000 bond today at the Robeson County jail on charges of robbery
with a dangerous weapon. Authorities say James has been absent
without leave from the U.S. Navy since November.

Police said James walked around Clark's Automotive Supply for several minutes Wednesday before demanding money from the owner while flashing a 32-caliber handgun. James fled with $788.

James told police he was living with his girlfriend in Fairmont, a town in southeast North Carolina on the South Carolina border.
