The reigning Miss North Carolina stopped by Children's Hospital in Greenville Friday to visit with kids and drop off some books.
Jessica Jacobs toured the hospital and delivered 60 books to fill the child life playroom. Several sick children had the opportunity to listen to her read to them and take a book for themselves.
Thanks to donations, Jacobs says she's able to help healthy and sick children to read. Jacobs says, "The education of a child is just as important part of their health and well-being as taking care of their physical well-being. So it's my pleasure to bring them books to simulate these brains and keep them entertained."
Literacy is Jacobs personal platform aside from the national Children's Miracle Network platform that the Miss America Pageant has established.
