Nifong Held In Criminal Contempt Of Court

A judge is holding former Durham County prosecutor Mike Nifong in criminal contempt of court for his handling of DNA evidence in the Duke lacrosse case.

Defense attorneys had asked Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith
III to punish Nifong for telling the court he disclosed all DNA testing results during a hearing last fall in the lacrosse case.

They said he made that statement when knew about, and failed to
reveal, the presence of the unidentified male genetic material to
defense attorneys.

Give me a break. If I or ANY of my friends or relatives were found in contempt of court, we would surely get more time than one day. What gives with this? I think the judge that passed this down should also spend time in jail. He has commited contempt himself. This is a joke, right?
