Some New Bern High School students were surprised when they were sent home for dress code violations on the second day of school.
Over 80 students were sent packing Tuesday after school officials received numerous complaints about what they were wearing.
The violations ranged from students pants sagging too low to t-shirts coming down below the knees.
Over 1,900 students are enrolled at the high school and school officials say they wanted to make the message loud and clear. They also say the policy's been around for years.
Wednesday, violations were down to a handful.
