Huge Pot Bust In Greene County

Thousands of marijuana plants have been found in rural Greene County today.

Sheriff Lemmie Smith tells WITN News the haul is so big that they'll actually have to count the plants tomorrow.

Sheriff deputies, with the help of a Highway Patrol helicopter made the bust this afternoon. Deputies say a man working in a field off Gray's Mill Road stumbled on the pot and notified authorities.

A Highway Patrol spokeswoman says up to 7,000 plants have been seized.

The federal government estimates one marijuana plant can produce a pound of marijuana, with a street value of $4,000. That means today discovery could have a street value of up to $28-million.

Authorities say right now they have made no arrests in connection with this huge marijuana discovery.

I like how the government overvalues the drug to make it look like the seized alot in money value. Its the same as buying a 24pack of pepsi which cost $5.00 and selling each soda for $1, thus making the value $24.00.
