Making Craven Regional Airport Safer and More Secure

The Craven Regional Airport has just received a federal grant to help with safety and security upgrades.

Airport Director Larry Scantlin says just over $1.1 million came from the Federal Aviation Administration to help with construction of an emergency and security access road. Once built, it will allow rescue vehicles to travel all the way around the runways in the event of an emergency.

Also on the list of improvements, expansion of the aircraft rescue and fire fighting building, a new fire fighting vehicle, and an upgrade to the air traffic control tower's radio communications.
