Choosing the Right Daycare

Updated: Fri 4:05 PM, Aug 20, 2004

It's one of hardest decisions a parent has to make, deciding which daycare to send your child to. Experts say one thing you may want to consider is the daycare's star rating. The star rating, which goes from one to five, is used to grade things like the teacher to child ratio, educational programs, and how well the facility follows state guidelines.

But Partnership For Children officials say parents shouldn't base their whole decision on a daycare's star rating. They say just because a facility may only have three stars, it doesn't mean it's not a quality daycare.

Officials say parents should visit different facilities, take tours, and ask questions before making a final decision.
