"Party Bus" Rolls Through Greenville

A "Party Patrol" of a different kind will be out on the streets of Greenville -- police on the lookout for alcohol related violations.

"Patrol Patrol" is a cooperative effort between Greenville police, ECU police, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement and Pitt County Alcohol Beverage Control agents.

This past weekend the "Party Patrol" visited 58 different parties in the target area, which includes the downtown bars, the Tar River neighborhood and others around ECU. Police say they issued 31 ABC violations, 20 underage drinking violations and 36 other various traffic and other infractions.

Police say their efforts are a proactive approach to reducing of alcohol related violations, which could in turn reduce the likelihood of alcohol related assaults, alcohol overdose, DWI and alcohol related sexual assaults in Greenville.

J.J. science has proven the human brain is still developing into the persons early 20's. If the drinking age were lowered to 18 the liklihood of brain damage will increase. This was one of the main reasons why the drinking age was raised to 21.

This is a clear example why the drinking age should be 18. Young adults are becoming criminals with records just because they are drinking alchol. Being able to drink should go with all the other rights and responsiblities you get when you turn 18.

Does anyone else find it crazy that the ECU police always seems to be downtown, but never actually ON CAMPUS?! They are no where to be found when students get assaulted on campus. I'm sick of getting ECU alert emails telling me yet another student got assaulted on or around campus. Students drinking alcohol is the LEAST of Greenville's problems.
