Despite Hurricane Charley, law enforcement officers say they had their hands full with a wanted domestic abuser.

According to police, two Greenville officers went to the Macgregor Village Apartments Saturday to arrest Demetrius Donte Draughn on charges of domestic abuse. Upon arrival Draughn fled, got into a nearby vehicle and tried to run the police officers over. Greenville police shot Draughn three times, and he is now recovering at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, listed in stable condition.

As is standard procedure, the two officers are being investigated by the SBI to determine if their actions were correct, and they have been placed on paid leave following the incident. More charges are now pending against Draughn and could include attempted murder on two police officers.
