Highway Patrol officials say a collision Thursday afternoon involving two logging trucks is the result of one driver running a red light.

Lawmen say the two trucks collided head-on when one of the drivers failed to stop at the blinking light at the intersection of Cox's Cross roads and Highway 43 in Pitt County. Officials say one truck was carrying a full load of logs, the other was empty.

Officials tell WITN-7 News one of the drivers was airlifted by Eastcare helicopter to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. At last report, authorities said the driver was in stable condition.

Officials say the second driver looked to be in fair condition and was taken by ambulance to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
