NC College Students Urged To Guard Against ID Theft

A warning for college students... watch your credit. North Carolina's attorney general says students need to take responsibility for their finances and watch out for identity theft.

The experts have some advice:

Students should check their credit reports regularly.

Be careful with credit cards. If you choose to go that route, get just one and don't share your student id, pins or passwords with anyone.

Memorize your passwords and pins. Use spyware, anti-virus and firewall software on your computer.

Finally, invest in a shredder to dispose of bank statements and other documents with personal info on it.
