Former N.C. House Speaker Jim Black apparently owes taxes on land that was undervalued.
Mecklenburg County officials say Black owes about $7,200 and is now trying to sell the land for more than four times the tax value to help pay a court fine.
The tax assessor says he will try to collect the tax money. He says the property was rezoned after black bought it, but wasn't reported to the county.
The 72-year-old Black is serving a five-year federal prison sentence for corruption. He also was fined $1 million by a state judge and told to pay the fine by December 10 or face another two years in prison.
