The heat wave has left some people in the dark. At one point Thursday over 2,500 Dominion Power customers in Northeastern North Carolina were without power.
A Dominion official says they have been dealing with record usage causing blackouts in North Carolina and Virginia.
Many customers have had power restored, but it remains out for 700 customers in Ahoskie, Hertford County.
