Norman Wiggins, Former Campbell Leader Dies At 83

The chancellor and retired president of Campbell University has died.

Norman A. Wiggins died today from complications of lymphoma. He
was 83.

Wiggins had been president of the private university for 36 years. He retired in 2003 because of health problems related to the cancer.

The university says Wiggins was being treated at Wake Forest
University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem when he died.

Wiggins was a native of Burlington and served in the Marines in
World War II. Funeral arrangements are not complete.
