A guilty verdict at the Beaufort County courthouse in Washington Thursday led to decades more in prison for a convicted rapist, and an outburst that led to at least one arrest.
After deliberating for two hours, a jury found Doc Watson guilty of a second rape, as well as robbery.
The conviction is for a rape and robbery at a downtown Washington store in 2003. When the jury's verdict was announced, officials say Watson's family members began yelling at the jury. Officials say the judge ordered those people arrested, for harassing and trying to intimidate the jurors.
The judge also sentenced Watson to at least 47 more years in prison. That sentence will start at the end of his current one, which is some 30 years for another 2003 rape in Beaufort County.
