A 200 year-old scroll containing the Ten Commandments is to be donated to the main Protestant Chapel at Camp Lejeune on Sunday.
The Torah Scroll, originally written on sheep skin during the 1800s in Poland, is a gift from Shma' Ministries, an organization based out of Reingold, Georgia. The historic document, which contains the scripture from Deuteronomy, survived the Holocaust and was moved to Israel where Sofars -- people who write scrolls --
tried to repair it.
Gary Zimmerman, president of the organization, is scheduled to present the scroll to Commanding Officer Colonel Adele Hodges.
