Woman Released After Plea In Abduction Case

A woman from Australia is out of jail after agreeing to a plea deal on a charge associated with an Internet relationship with a 17-year-old boy in Pitt County.

Thirty-one-year-old Tamara Broome was given a prayer for
judgment in Pitt County District Court on a charge of contributing
to the delinquency of a minor.

Judge Charles Vincent says if Broome obeys the conditions of her
release, her record will be cleared.

Broome is from Adelaide, Australia. She had been charged with
felony abduction of children after she was arrested June 26th at
the train station in Rocky Mount.

A sheriff's investigator says Broome formed a year-long online
relationship with the then 16-year-old boy by playing an online
game called World of Warcraft.

Assistant District Attorney Kimberly Robb says she consulted the
boy's family before agreeing to the plea deal.
