Members of the 22nd MEU at Camp Lejeune returned home from Haiti Monday morning.
About 2,000 troops shipped out back in January to provide supplies to the disaster-stricken country after a major earthquake pounded the area. Nearly 400 Marines returned home Monday after spending two months distributing food, water, and medical supplies.
Marine Corps officials say they were the right group to go because they had just returned from a deployment overseas and are amphibious, meaning they could do most of their work from water.
About 1,600 Marines are still in Haiti and are expected back no later than April 15th.
