The National Weather Service has cancelled the tornado watch in Eastern Carolina.

At 3:05 a.m., a funnel cloud was reported five miles south of Kenansville, near Highway 50 South in Duplin County. There are no reports of damage.

A tornado warning was issued for Duplin County early Wednesday, but it expired at 3:30 a.m.

The hazardous road conditions prompted Bertie County Schools to issue a two-hour delay Wednesday.

A strong storm will be tracking through the Great Lakes on Wednesday driving a cold front our way by late afternoon. Ahead of the front strong southwesterly winds of 20 to 40 mph will push the temps all the way into the mid 70s. Scattered showers and storms are likely, with an outside chance for a severe storm.

Chilly dry conditions return Thursday and Friday, with a cold rain on tap for Saturday night into Sunday. We'll go back to dry, but stay chilly into the early part of next week.

Wind Advisory: A Wind Advisory is in effect for counties along and south of highway 64. The Advisory will expire at 6pm tonight. Winds of 25 to 35 mph are likely with a few gusts exceeding 40 mph along the beaches. Use extra caution if driving high profile vehicles.

Coastal Flood Advisory: The advisory is in effect for Outer Banks Dare county through 1am Thursday. Strong westerly winds will push water levels 2 to 3 feet above normal along the soundside of the Outer Banks. The greatest risk of higher water will come around high tide at 1pm today and 2am Thursday.
