The head of the House Homeland Security panel says the nation is lucky that the security breach at a White House state dinner didn't result in a "night of horror."
Bennie Thompson spoke before the start of a hearing by his panel into just how Tareq and Michaele Salahi were able to get into the dinner for the prime minister of India last week without an invitation.
Secret Service director Mark Sullivan -- the only witness at the hearing -- told the panel that mistakes were made. And he added, "In our line of work, we cannot afford even one mistake." But he said he's confident President Barack Obama was never at risk.
The committee chair says the panel still needs to talk to the Salahis, and to White House social secretary Desiree Rogers. All three were invited to appear today, but declined. Thompson had said last night that if the Salahis didn't show up, the committee was ready to move ahead with subpoenas.

data man, how can you turn something like this into being racist? Did you see the pictures of this wonderful man you claim the president to be shaking hands with the couple? The guest list to this event was HIS guest list. I would think that he would know the people that he invited, I know if I had a party and saw someone who was not on the guest list I would immediately start asking questions. Just goes to show you, that the man running or should I say ruining this Country doesnt even know who his friends are. Thats the scary part of this whole story. It is people like you who turn something like this into a racial issue that creates the racial tension we now have in America. I hope that if you have children you are not teaching them the same beliefs that you have.
Some of you don't know what a horror it would have been if someone had gotten to Biden and Obama, Dataman, think about that.....Nancy Pelosi would be the next to take over. AAAAAAHAHHHHHHHHHHH
Do all you Obama fans feel safe now that we know the White House isn't even secure much less the country?
