North Carolina Native Works With Rove At White House

A Davie County native with a history of working with North Carolina's congressional delegation is now working under White House political strategist Karl Rove.

Jonathan D. Felts was named last week by President Bush as deputy assistant to the president and director of political affairs. Felts will coordinate White House relationships with congressional and gubernatorial offices for next year's election.

The 34-year-old Felts graduated from North Carolina State University in 1994 and began working for several G-O-P politicians. He worked in Bush's re-election campaign in North Carolina in 2004.

Felts had been assistant for political affairs to Vice President Dick Cheney.
