One person was killed today when a truck hauling military explosives overturned in southeastern North Carolina as it headed toward a military ammunition dock on the Cape Fear River.
Some people were evacuated from their homes in Bolton in Columbus County and troopers set up a perimeter about a half miles around the site.
An Army explosives team from Fort Bragg was on its way to deal with the truck's cargo. Clendenin says it may be most of the morning before the wreck is cleared off the road.
Sunny Point is a military terminal for ship transport of ammunition and supplies.
