A big, green animal crawling around in a neighborhood ditch. Sixty nine year old Roger Pickett of Haws Run, in Onslow County, was outside gardening Wednesday evening when a neighbor came by, and said there was an unexpected visitor lurking in their neighborhood. Roger captured the massive alligator just outside of his home. Onslow county Sheriff Ed Brown, who actually lives a mile from where the alligator was spotted, also heard the unusual news. Sheriff Brown says the North Carolina Wildlife Commission and the Sheriff's Department removed the alligator from the ditch around 9:30 Wednesday night. He says he believes it will be released into nearby gamelands.
