They are often called the greatest generation, those who served in World War II. It's estimated that fewer than four million World War II veterans are still alive, with over a thousand dying each day, according to government records. "Memorial Flight," a local grass roots project, is raising money to fly veterans from Eastern Carolina to see the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Pam Morgan founded "Memorial Flight," and has supplemented this weekend's trip with her own money, but is working to raise funds to send a second group of veterans to see the memorial. Morgan says," In just over two-and-a-half months we have been able to raise $26,000, but the total cost of this trip is $34,000. So we're at $8,000 short." The cost to sponsor a veteran is $300.
