Ferry Routes Affected By Wind

The Currituck-Knotts Island, the Ocracoke-Swan Quarter, Cedar Island to Ocracoke and Hatteras to Ocracoke routes have all been suspended until further notice. The fierce winds forced the Minnesott Beach Ferry in Pamlico County to stay docked Monday afternoon. The Minnesott Beach ferry makes several daily runs between Pamlico and Carteret Counties. Ferry operators told us the wind gusts were making it difficult for smaller cars to load the ship on both the Minnesott Beach and Cherry Branch side, so they decided to dock the ferry starting after lunchtime. A decision on when the ferry resumes regular schedule will be made in the Tuesday morning.
