State prison officials say two inmates who escaped from a minimum security prison in Mecklenburg County are back behind bars.
The inmates escaped last night by jumping a fence at the rear of the unit. They were back in custody after midnight, but other details weren't released.
The inmates are 28-year-old Joseph Butler and 27-year-old Franklin Arthur Denning Junior.
Butler was serving time for felony breaking and entering.
Denning was serving a sentence for speeding with a revoked license and eluding arrest.
