When Virginia Tech opens the football season on September 1 against ECU it is sure to be an emotional game. And the Pirates say it's an opportunity to help in the healing process. That's why the ECU Department of Athletics is pledging $100,000 to the Blacksburg campus. Donations are already coming in for the Hokie Fund, which will be presented during the game. Mark Wharton, executive director of the Pirate Club, says, just like when other campuses helped ECU during the flood of '99, ECU wants to return the favor. ECU athletics will also accept donations at all remaining 2007 regular season home baseball games at the Clark-LeClair Stadium customer service booth.
