A lottery-supported education fund grew to
305 million dollars Friday.
That's after the transfer of almost 86 million dollars from
the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Lottery officials say the transfer covers the third quarter of
the 2006-07 fiscal year and represents more than 36 percent of the
total quarterly revenues.
The lottery has raised almost 950 million dollars in total
revenue from its inception.
State law requires at least 35 percent of net revenues be used
for education initiatives such as class-size reduction, preschool
programs, school construction and college scholarships for needy
