Making a difference it's something many strive for but few truly achieve.
One man who plays both father and mother to over 200 at risk youth at no cost to their parents is a good example of someone who is making a difference.
Darren Darden is the owner/director and founder of "Darden Enlightment Center" in Farmville. It's a non profit program for over 257 kids whose parents have little to no resources. They're kids that might otherwise be left to fend for themselves.
Darden uses only community donations and his own money to fund the center. Offering free meals, entertainment and mentoring.
Next door to the center a small gym helps bring in some revenue and inside the center there's a thrift store of sorts. Items Darden either bought or things donated from the community that are for sale.
Center volunteers sell raffle tickets and have other fundraisers throughout the year. Their main goal is to raise over 200-thousand dollars to build a much needed bigger brand new center directly behind the current one.

Awesome story!! Like he said, if more people had the mentality to help others, we could change this world over night. The other small towns in Pitt are in need of people and places like this one. Thanks for sharing WITN.
257 at-risk kids just in Farmville? Wow, that's a high number. 'Being left to fend for themselves' brings questions to my mind. However, this is a 'feel good' story though, since Mr. Darden is trying to help. Sounds like he has a full-time job there.
