The wind advisory for Outer Banks Dare and Hyde counties has now been extended until noon Tuesday. These counties are also under a coastal flood warning until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Thewind advisory for inland areas of Eastern Carolina is until 6 p.m. Monday.
There will be strong west to northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts to 45 miles per hour across Eastern Carolina.
Winds this strong can making driving difficult, especially for high profile (tall) vehicles.
There is also a high threat of rip currents exist for the beaches south of Cape Hatteras Monday, and a gale warning in effect from Ocracoke Inlet to Cape Lookout until late Monday night.
