Authorities don't suspect foul play in a fire in which a 37-year-old mother of six was killed in Nash County early Thursday morning.
Lieutenant Pat Joyner of the Nash County Sheriff's Office says firefighters responding to the blaze found Carla Pridgen's body on the dining room floor. It's believed she left something on the stove.
Her grandfather tried to save her, but says he met a wall of smoke when he tried to enter the home.
Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen, worked its way up the wall and blazed through the roof of the one-story house.
None of the children was in the home when the fire occurred.
