Fingerprints Not A Match In Baby Death

On February 7th, Rocky Mount police say the baby, just two or three days old and with its umbilical cord still attached, was placed in a garbage dumpster behind a Rocky Mount grocery store. Police labeled this case a homicide and told WITN this is clearly not a case of abandonment or a stillborn baby. Investigators just received test results back from the state crime lab on a cup and toy found with the child in the dumpster. They said at first they thought these test results were going to be a big break in the case. Police found fingerprints on the items and traced them to an individual in Winterville in Pitt County. Police say after interviewing that person, the individual is not considered to be a suspect in the case.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information in the case.
