A former christian camp director, indicted on first degree sex offense against three children, now faces two more charges.

According to the Daily Advance newspaper, 51-year-old Stephen Carter now faces six charges of engaging in sexual activities with children.

The newspaper reports a Perquimans County grand jury handed down the additional indictments Thursday against the former leader of Camp Cale Retreat in Perquimans County. The paper says Carter is out on bond until his trial date, which has not been set.

A Baptist summer camp director in Eastern Carolina is facing sex crime charges against children.

Stephen Carter has been indicted on felony first degree sex offense against a child and felony indecent liberties with a child in Perquimans County.

Carter is the director of Camp Cale Retreat in Perquimans County. Todd Tilley, the Perquimans Clerk of Superior Court, says Carter is not allowed to have any contact with people under the age 18, with the exception of his own children. That stipulation was imposed by the magistrate.

Carter was arrested on July 1, Tilley said, for an alleged incident on June 15. Carter posted an $80,000 bond and remains free.

Tilley said it is up to the district attorney to set Carter's next court date now that the grand jury has indicted him.

The camp's website says the 50-year-old has been directing the camp since 2002. The site also says Carter and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Why are so many talking about Mr. Carter as if he has been tried and convicted? In USA, we are "innocent until proven guilty." There are many similar cases on the books in which individuals have been falsely accused, and cases have been manufactured by over-zealous prosecutors. Also, children who have been abused by others or are starving for attention can make such accusations. Look up the Little Rascals and Kern County, Calif. cases. Do not jump to conclusions before all the facts have been revealed.

Ghandi is not exactly the one to be critisizing Christians. No oe needs to be speaking to bad against Christians....after all thier human frailties are what they are trying to overcome. The same ones non religious people humans have. How Stupid to relate to this group of people as hypocrites and all humanity hides behind something.Gandi wasn't the perfect "whatever" and he sure wasn't Christ.
