Princeville Native Returns To Start Publishing Business

Michael Bennett has big plans for his native Princeville, the oldest town chartered by blacks in America.

His publishing company would create a few hundred jobs and pump six million dollars into the local economy.

Heaven Can't Wait would specialize in publishing, Web sites, and music production.

Last night, town commissioners in the Edgecombe County town approved the rezoning of about 220 acres for the project. That allows the company to seek financing to purchase the land at an estimated 725-thousand dollars.

Bennett spent 23 years in the Army before returning to start the company.

He says he's starting the business in Princeville "because I am coming back to show what it was is not what it is to become."
