A cancer survivor, an adoptive parent and a physically challenged teacher. They all have something in common and were recognized for it Thursday. Students at South Edgecombe Middle School in Pinetops nominated their Everyday Heroes. An Everyday Hero is a person who isn't rich or famous, just a normal human being that did or survived something extraordinary. That's the criteria used to nominate the person who made a difference in their lives. Students, and those they nominated, came together in front of the entire school in an emotional display of gratitude. The Everyday Heroes project came from a book students read with that same title.
