A tanker accident forced the shut down of all lanes of Interstate 95 in Robeson County between exits 33 and 41. That's between Fayetteville and Lumberton. Officials say the roadway could be closed through Saturday.
The Highway Patrol says a tanker truck ran off the interstate and into a swamp next to the interstate. Officials say it overturned and leaked 6,700 gallons of gasoline and 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident around nine this
morning south of Fayetteville near Saint Pauls.
The tanker is owned by Winston-Salem-based Reliable Tank Lines.
The Highway Patrol says the tanker driver was taken to a hospital
with non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was backed up for a few miles and motorists are being
detoured until I-95 is reopened.
