Two NC Men Plead Guilty In Counterfeit Internet Drug Case

Two Pinehurst men have pleaded guilty to federal charges for their role in an Internet scheme to sell counterfeit prescription drugs.

David Brady pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud individuals seeking prescription drugs and to introduce into interstate commerce unapproved new drugs and adulterated new drugs.

David Johnson pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony for concealing criminal activity.

Investigators say the scam netted those involved more than 19 million dollars, even though the drugs had little or no medicinal value.

Prosecutors say the two marketed the drugs through unsolicited e-mails. They claimed the drugs came from Canada, but they were made in Belize.
