The University of North Carolina Board of Governors voted Friday to increase tuition and fees for in-state students at all of its 16 campuses.
ECU's increase is the highest in the state at 9.5 percent, which brings the annual tuition and fees up to $4,181 from $3,816, an increase of $365 yearly.
The amounts don't include costs for room and board, books and other expenses.
School officials say the increase includes a significant fee for a large expansion and renovation of the Mendenhall Student Center.
