Wilson School's Teachers To Get Laptops

Faculty at Hunt High School in Wilson should be using laptop computers and projectors this spring as part of a program whose goal is to get laptops to every student later in the year.

The laptops are being paid for through state and private grants, including 200-thousand dollars from Jim Goodnight, chief executive of SAS Institute in Cary. The program also includes training to show the teacher how to use the technology in their classrooms.

Wilson County Schools Superintendent Larry Price said it would cost 3 million dollars to buy laptops for all of the roughly 12-hundred students at Hunt.

Price says the program got started when he attended a meeting at SAS in October and Goodnight asked him to help find schools for a laptop project.
