Black History Month

Spreading unity and love is the message one pastor in Onslow County hopes to get across this month. Pastor E.C. Dobson is doing that with a display at the council for the arts in Jacksonville that honors local African American leaders like Colonel Adele Hodges, the first African American woman in command of Camp Lejuene or Teneal Boone, a star basketball player at Mount Olive College. Authentic African American paintings, clothing, household items, watercolor paintings and poetry, are on display all month. Pastor Dobson hopes it will bring awareness to the community, while uniting all races. You can see the display all month at the council for the arts on New Bridge street in Jacksonville.
