Two Shootings In Three Days In Martin County

Authorities say one shooting may have been a murder-suicide.

On Saturday, lawmen say a 55-year-old man shot his wife at their residence on Heartland Road and called 911 before turning the gun on himself.

Monday morning, lawmen say a 21-year-old man shot his twin brother in the back. Authorities say that victim is in stable condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Authorities believe Monday's shooting was an accident.

Sheriff's investigators looking into Saturday's possible murder-suicide say they knew of no previous domestic problems and don't believe alcohol or drugs played a role.
