NC School To Offer Zookeeping Training

Would you like to walk with the animals, talk to the animals? Then enroll in the new program at Davidson County Community College scheduled to begin this fall.

The school worked with local zoos and animal parks to develop the Zoo and Aquarium Technology Program. The intensive, two-year associate degree program will enroll 24 students in its first year.

It will be one of the country's few animal keeper training programs.

The hands-on program will work with the Natural Science Center in Greensboro and the North Carolina Zoo to immerse students in the profession. Mark Stevens, a biology instructor who will become the program's director, says he expects enrollment numbers to increase once the program is established.
