If you didn't know it was winter yet, the snow let some residents in the east know Monday morning. Temperatures dipped into the thirties Monday, bringing with it snow to many of Eastern Carolina's coastal areas. About an inch of the white stuff was reported in Columbia in Tyrrell County. We saw residents shoveling and salting down their steps and walkways. But despite the snow, the highways stayed relatively clear. Meteorologists predict the brisk weather to hang around throughout the week. However, much of the snow quickly melted.
