Coast Guard Searching For Pranksters

Coast Guard personnel at Wrightsville Beach are trying to find whoever's responsible for a series of false emergency calls for nearly a year.

Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Justin Westmiller says there have been 15 instances in which the same person has called in fake maydays. He says it's costing the Coast Guard nearly 10-thousand dollars in response and 65 man hours in search, plan and execution.

Five days ago, the prankster struck again, giving the Coast Guard station a specific location to search.

If the person is caught, he's facing large fines or jail time.
