Guilford County school leaders are looking at a proposal that would give two years of free college tuition to all graduating high school students.
Guilford County Schools Superintendent Terry Grier has gained widespread support for the proposal, which would pay the college bills local graduates that enroll at Guilford Technical Community College.
But rough district estimates place suggest that it would cost 21-point-3 million dollars over two years to send this year's class of Guilford County seniors to Guilford Technical.
Either way, local business and education leaders have endorsed the idea. On Saturday, the Board of Education unanimously decided to begin formal discussions between Grier and other government leaders.
