The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in North Carolina has ranged between 4.6 percent and 4.9 percent since July. The national unemployment rate for December was 4.5 percent. Seasonally adjusted employment in North Carolina rose by slightly more than 9900 jobs, to more than four million. The sector with the largest increase was professional and business services, while manufacturing lost 1900 jobs.
