A three-year-old Alexander County boy is recovering today after he was shot in the face.
Police say an eleven-year-old boy was playing with his father's handgun yesterday, when he accidentally shot the toddler in the chin. Alexander County Sheriff Hayden Bentley says the boy is at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. His injury is not considered life-threatening.
Authorities say the eleven-year-old's father, Robert Blankenship, may face misdemeanor charges for leaving his gun where the children could use it.
