Funeral Home Director Indicted In Wife's Death

.A grand jury has indicted a Rocky Mount funeral director and a woman on charges of first-degree murder in the death of his wife.

Mark Bowling and Rose Delores Vincent were indicted Monday by a Nash County grand jury in connection with the December 8th slaying of Julie Bowling, who was shot to death in the garage of her home.

Assistant District Attorney Keith Werner says Bowling and Vincent are scheduled to appear in court on January 22nd. Bowling and Vincent could face the death penalty if convicted.

Investigators say Bowling met Vincent eight years ago after her stepmother died. They had a romantic relationship then and resumed it a year before Bowling's wife was killed.

Search warrants indicate that Vincent, a wife and mother of three children from Middlesex, confessed to shooting Bowling's wife.

Investigators say Bowling was in Florida when his wife was killed and was arrested the day after the slaying when he returned to Rocky Mount.
