Hundreds of toys took over firehouse 6 at the Greenville Fire and Rescue station Wednesday afternoon. The toys were collected over the Christmas season from various drop off centers throughout Pitt County. The campaign, called "Operation Santa Claus" distributes dozens of toys to Pitt County families in need of a Christmas this year. Battalion Chief Tony Smart says he's overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. Chief Smart says the toys will be separated by family and then hand delivered by Christmas. One more thing. Chief Smart tells us there are some people posing as Greenville firemen going door to door to collect money. Smart says they do not do that and you should turn them away.
