An organization focused on abolishing the death penalty in our state is taking their cause to the streets of Eastern Carolina.

Members of "So-Far" plan to walk 300 miles from Raleigh to Goldsboro back to Raleigh before the General Assembly.

The co-founder of the group hopes to prevent another life lost on death row all while providing help and healing to families who've lost someone.

Currently, executions in our state have been on hold while the legislators can enact reforms to Capitol Punishment.

I am completely amazed at how in this country we continue to execute people. We are supposed to be civilized and just because someone is convicted of a crime, doesn't necessarily mean they are guilty. There have been too many instances lately of people on death row and other inmates going free because of wrongful convictions. What we really need to do in this country is re-assess our justice system. It is flawed and people have and still could pay for those mistakes with their life. All who feel so strongly for it should imagine if it was them and they were innocent.....would you be so swift for the kill I ask?? Probably not. I just feel we need to be a civilized society and not hypocritical. We happen to be the only civilized country with the death penalty. Revenge is not the way to curb violent crimes. For all the executions there has been only increase in crime, not decline. Why don't we just put our bloodlust aside and see it for what it really is. Only then will things change.

Im sure all you "intelligent" people making comments on why these people are marching hate countries like Iran and Pakistan. You know the one thing we have in common with these "backwards" countries? The death penalty. Im sure you all consider yourself Christians but the main lesson I learned from Christ was to love one another and give forgiveness. Not everyone that commits murder is a rapist, torturer, or "sick" person. And for the "smart" peole talking about how much money it waste, look on dpic.org, the cost to kill someone is substanially more than the cost to keep them in prison for life. They aren't marching to empty the jails, but no one has a right to take a life, even if it is the government. If they have done a crime, they need to face the consequences. And yes, they are stopping by victim's graves, because they are marching against ALL murder. ANY and ALL murders are senseless. And the comment about us as a country not valuing life, what do you think your doing? WWJD?

I suggest that each marcher take one of these "death row inmates" into their home providing love, hugs, kisses, food, let them play with your kids and you will be held responsible for all their actions.
